Description

St. Mark's Senior National School is a co-educational, Catholic, primary school which strives to provide a well-ordered, caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed. While Saint Mark's is a school with a Catholic ethos, it also has due recognition for all other religions.There is a total of 525 pupils of mixed gender. These are in class levels from 3rd to 6th grades with children aged between 8 and 13. There are a hight number of EAL children in the school with over half of the children not speaking English as their mother tongue.

Goals

Use of HUE Animation in classroom lessons.

Hue Animation gives the children the opportunity to make and manipulate 3D figures and in so doing highlights the step by step process involved in Instructional Writing in Literacy. It gives the children an opportunity for oral expressing vital in the development of their vocabulary acquisition and oral literacy.

Methods

This is done by using lego and other resources like match sticks, play dough and other 3D objects.

Materials

This process allows the children to discuss the process of the animation for the purposes of teaching and learning through Literacy and Numeracy.

Assessment

ICT

With regard to the ICT we use HUE Animation, Stop Motion, IMovie and Book Creator Apps.

Mobility

Pupils are involved on a daily basis in the above ICT Projects. Children are in charge of their Projects facilitated by the teachers.

Stakeholders

Parents are involved through the oral discussion on their ICT Projects.

Success

The children are motivated. It is interactive and it meets the learning goals of Numeracy and Literacy.

Head-teacher

HUE Animation is a very effective digital tool for a class teacher to use to enhance Literacy and Numeracy.

We have used it for oral language and teaching social skills.
