Description

The school has about 1000 students between 12 and 18 years old distributed in regular and vocational studies. It also has students with special needs. In the project participated three students with special needs, one girl with 15 years old and two boys with 17 years old.

Goals

This project was designed for students with special needs and the goal was teaching geometry in a virtual robotic environment.

Different activities were created in order the students interiorize different geometric concepts.

Methods

 

Three students with special needs participated in the activities. They had different levels of disability and they had adapted teaching and assessment methods.

Materials

The Digital tool used was RoboMind. It’s not a free tool but I used the 30 days free license.

Assessment

The assessment was done verbally and with different but with the same concepts activities.

ICT

Using Robotics, even if virtual, to teach Maths, was different for me and for the students and it seems a good way to build some enthusiasm for a difficult subject for special needs students.

The students did the activities at school during their special needs class.

The parents authorized taking pictures and filming

Success

All students need to make contact with technology that can improve their understanding and in particular special needs students. To these students, digital technologies can help a lot because most of the time they see them in a playing sense
