NUCLIO is the coordinator of the Galileo Teacher Training Program, a legacy of the international year of astronomy, established in 100 countries and having trained over 30 000 teachers worldwide. We are also part of the coordination of the Global Hands-on Universe Association, a non profit institution devoted to bring cutting edge research to classrooms.

Below you will see links to the website’s of the schools and a brief summary of each school outlining the school environment, technology usage, issues and successes. These are the schools affiliated with  NUCLIO for the DSoE project.
Esc. Básica Via Longa
The group of schools of Vialonga is a group of 9 schools with preschool classes, ages 3-5, primary school 6-10, second and third cycle of basic education – ages 11-15 and vocational secondary – ages 15-18.
It´s public organization and our priority is to promote the educative and social success of our children/student’s. Our Educational project has a wide range of educational responses and curriculum, among which artistic music education, alternative and vocational courses, within the special needs we are also a reference school for multiple disabilities and early childhood intervention.
Our schools are located in Vialonga, in the outskirts of Lisbon and our context is characterized by a great cultural, social and linguistic diversity, with students from different origins. We are considered as a Priority Educational Territory, which aims to meet the needs of a great diversity of the school population and multicultural community, aiming their inclusion and successful learning.
We develop our Educational intervention in a multicultural context and we give special emphasis on fighting early school leaving, promoting the Inclusion of all students through good educational practices, since the early years.
We seek continuously to develop innovative practices and improve the teaching/learning methods to meet the identified needs in our schools, promoting a broad development competencies and learning, such as literacy, language and communication skills, the use of ICT in the learning process, the cooperative work, autonomy, responsibility and development of a social and cultural consciousness.
In the latest years, our School has actively been involved in Lifelong Learning Programmes, mainly Comenius and Erasmus+, with focus in preschool education, primary school and secondary school. In these projects students and teachers from different levels of education have been involved and their experiences strongly contributed to improve the learning process and the teacher’s personal and professional development.
ICT Implementation
Science teacher’s – Experience in in teaching /learning methodologies for STEM. Bloggs, moodle of school, school Facebook and personal one, divulging different activities and environments of scientific work. Collaboration with NUCLIO using the Go-lab platform and ISE. Use of personal smartphones, making films, using them to work on-line (research apps and information). Students age 11-15.
Challenges
The school doesn’t have internet, computers installed in all the classroom, but some of the teacher’s use the personal smartphones of students that have internet and use that for the classes.
Achievements
Teacher’s use personal tablets, smartphones, notebook’s to 25 or 30 student´s; and personal smartphones of students.
Agrupamento de Escolas de Vialonga

The group of schools of Miraflores is a group of schools with preschool, basic and secondary schools.
The secondary school has several courses related to arts, science and technology, languages and economics.
